Former Pakistan fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, has recently offered his perspectives on potential leaders for the national team across all the three formats.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a recent World Cup special show on a local media channel, Amir proposed a change in captaincy dynamics, putting forth three alternatives to replace skipper, Babar Azam.<\/p>\n

“For the T20I format, with the T20 World Cup on the horizon and a series of T20 matches and a Test series against Australia lined up before the mega-event, I pick Imad Wasim,” Mohammad Amir said.<\/p>\n

The left-arm pacer continued to express his views on the ODI format, proposing a change in leadership.<\/p>\n

“In ODI, if you want to change regime than Shan Masood can be a very good option,” he said.<\/p>\n

The former pacer also weighed in on the Test cricket, advocating for the inclusion of Sarfaraz Ahmed in a leadership role.<\/p>\n

“If you want to prepare any youngster for Test captaincy, Sarfaraz still has 2 years left in cricket, so appoint him as the captain along with a youngster as vice-captain,” he concluded.<\/p>\n

Following a disappointing performance in the 2023 World Cup, maintaining their leadership positions has become a challenge for Babar Azam and the team management, which include head coach, Grant Bradburn and the team director, Mickey Arthur.<\/p>\n

According to sources, discussions within the board about this matter commenced even before the match against England. The likelihood of Babar Azam continuing as the captain in white-ball cricket appears slim. Nevertheless, some quarters have proposed to Chairman Management Committee Zaka Ashraf that Babar should continue as captain during the Test series against Australia. A decision on this matter is expected in the coming days. There are also unconfirmed reports suggesting that Babar Azam may consider resigning as captain.
