Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and President Dr Arif Alvi on Thursday urged the nation to follow Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal\u2019s philosophy of khudi<\/em> \u2014 self-sufficiency \u2014 as the country marks Iqbal Day.<\/p>\n

In his message on Iqbal Day \u2014 being observed to commemorate the poet\u2019s 146th birthday \u2014 state-run Radio Pakistan<\/a><\/em> quoted the premier as saying that Iqbal \u201cawakened the consciousness of the Muslims of the subcontinent about their basic rights which created a spirit of unity among the Muslims\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added that the leader\u2019s \u201cphilosophy of khudi<\/em> is a unique transformation for humanity to achieve success in this world and hereafter\u201d. He emphasised that Iqbal visioned Pakistan as a country of \u201cpeace, political tolerance and brotherhood\u201d.<\/p>\n

The prime minister urged the youth to play a key role in the service and development of the country with positive and progressive thinking as envisaged by Iqbal, Radio Pakistan<\/em> stated.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, President Alvi also highlighted the need to follow the poet\u2019s \u201cteachings on Islam and his philosophy of \u2018khudi<\/em>\u2019 that believes in the promotion of self-respect and human dignity\u201d in order to make Pakistan a prosperous nation.<\/p>\n

He stated that Iqbal was a \u201cgreat thinker who imbibed in Muslims the spirit of unity, through his writings and poetry\u201d.<\/p>\n

In his message, interim Information Minister Murtaza Solangi said Iqbal\u2019s \u201cphilosophy and thought is a beacon of light for humanity\u201d, Radio Pakistan<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

Also mentioning the poet\u2019s \u201cpassionate message of \u2018khudi\u2019\u201d, the minister said Iqbal \u201ctaught the young generation to create their own world instead of depending on others\u201d.<\/p>\n

Highlighting that the leader made a practical effort to awaken the Muslims from their slumber for their true identity, Solangi asserted that the \u201csolution to the multifaceted challenges we face today lies in the universal teachings of Iqbal\u201d.<\/p>\n

Caretaker Balochistan Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki said the \u201ccommitment to the thought of Iqbal requires the nation to adopt his thinking and mould Pakistan in the true sense of his vision\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government highlighted that the philosopher \u201cconsidered the young generation to be the ladder of success\u201d.<\/p>\n

Separately, former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Iqbal \u201cgave us the message to believe in ourselves\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can get rid of the problems that Pakistan is facing today with our hard work. I have complete faith in our youth that they can not only rid Pakistan of all its problems but can also take it to the heights of development,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n

The ex-premier urged the nation to \u201cwork for Pakistan collectively\u201d, expressing firm belief that doing so would prove the country\u2019s strength to the world.<\/p>\n

Former climate change minister Sherry Rehman pointed out that Iqbal \u201cawakened the people with his thought and poetry\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIqbal\u2019s poetry reflects a deep connection with the self, Islamic thought and spirituality,\u201d she wrote while urging the younger generation to study the poet\u2019s works to understand his philosophy.<\/p>\n
