{"id":22827,"date":"2023-11-09T11:07:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T11:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/pm-warns-of-gaza-war-spill-over-effect-the-express-tribune\/"},"modified":"2023-11-09T11:07:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T11:07:07","slug":"pm-warns-of-gaza-war-spill-over-effect-the-express-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/pm-warns-of-gaza-war-spill-over-effect-the-express-tribune\/","title":{"rendered":"PM warns of Gaza war\u2019 spill-over effect | The Express Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"\">\n<strong class=\"location-names\"><br \/>\nISLAMABAD:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Wednesday called for enhanced engagement with the Western capitals to make Israel realise that the Gaza war could have a spill-over effect beyond the region.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Arab News published on Wednesday, the prime minister labelled Israel\u2019s assault on Gaza in retaliation to Hamas raids on October 7, as clearly a \u201cgenocide\u201d campaign, and called for an immediate \u201ccessation of violence\u201d there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to engage with different Western capitals, particularly Washington and London, and they need to make realise the Israeli side that they are contributing to destabilise not just the region, but probably it would have a spill-over effect beyond the region,\u201d Kakar said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t just kill children and say that you have got the right to defend yourself. It\u2019s the licence to barbaric retaliation,\u201d he said, adding that he would visit Riyadh this weekend for an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss Israeli attacks on Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if the Pakistan received any requests from the United States to soften its stance against Israel, Kakar said he was not aware of any such request. \u201cI don\u2019t think so any government would listen to any such request \u2026 it\u2019s absurd to even think of requesting someone to be silent on such an account.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether the Muslim nations were doing enough for Gaza, Kakar raised questions about the role of the world\u2019s estimated 1.8 billion Muslims, who make up 24% of the global population, in \u201cfacing the kind of situation which we are in\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&#038;version=v5.0&#038;appId=419051588770002&#038;autoLogAppEvents=1\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Wednesday called for enhanced engagement with the Western capitals to make Israel realise that the Gaza war could have a spill-over effect beyond the region.
