Movie<\/em>,\u2019 also returns to produce the \u2018<em>Zelda<\/em>\u2018 film.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been working on the live-action film of \u2018<em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em>\u2018 for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films,\u201d Miyamoto wrote on an official Nintendo social media account Tuesday. \u201cI have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Japanese-owned Hollywood giant Sony Pictures will co-finance and distribute the movie in theatres.<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo remained wary of Hollywood adaptations of its franchises for decades after its 1993 live-action \u2018<em>Super Mario Bros.<\/em>\u2018 movie disastrously flopped.<\/p>\n<p>But its return to the big screen with \u2018<em>The Super Mario Bros. Movie<\/em>\u2018 was an enormous box office success, grossing $1.36 billion globally \u2014 second this year only to \u2018<em>Barbie<\/em>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"ast-oembed-container \" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe title=\"The Super Mario Bros. Movie | Official Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TnGl01FkMMo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The success is part of a growing Hollywood trend.
