Punjab Caretaker Minister for Primary and Secondary Health and Population Welfare Dr Jamal Nasir Saturday said the number of specialist doctors at DHQ hospitals will be increased to improve the quality of healthcare for the public.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said specialisation classes for doctors in four district headquarters hospitals of four districts including Attock will be started soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

The minister observed that the programme will be started with the support of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSP).<\/span><\/p>\n

He was speaking as a special guest at the 56th annual convocation of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP). At the event, World Federation of Medical Education President Ricardo Leon, CPSP President Professor Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, Senior Vice President Prof Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, Lt Gen Arshad Wasim, heads of other health institutions, students, teachers and parents were present.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Jamal Nasir said discussions with CPSP have been completed and formal orders have also been issued for starting post-graduate classes in DHQ hospitals of these districts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The provincial minister said two new cancer hospitals are being established in Lahore, which will be made operational within a short period of two months. <\/span><\/p>\n

He said one cancer hospital will be established in the Manawan area of Lahore while the other one will be established in Punjab Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute, Lahore.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said CM Naqvi is supervising the improvement of hospitals in Punjab. Dr Jamal Nasir said CPSP has become an international organisation and its regional centres have been set up in England, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Nepal which is a matter of pride for the entire country.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said that the doctors who obtained degrees from CPSP are rendering their services not only in Pakistan but also in foreign countries.<\/span><\/p>\n
