I have serious apprehensions about his safety,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Fawad\u2019s arrest comes a day after PTI leader Asad Qaiser was detained by police in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1786374\/islamabad-court-sends-ptis-asad-qaiser-on-judicial-remand-in-graft-case\">graft case<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fawad had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1755516\">parted ways<\/a> with the PTI soon after a countrywide crackdown on the party as initiated after the May 9 riots sparked by its chairman Imran Khan\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  sm:w-1\/2  w-full  media--right  media--embed  media--uneven\">\n<p>    <iframe class=\"nk-iframe\" onload=\"setInterval(()=&gt;{try{this.style.height=this.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+'px';}catch{}}, 100)\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"height:400px;position:relative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/card\/1774736\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-popups allow-modals allow-forms\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>A week before the announcement, an attempt was made to detain Fawad, who had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1753728\">gotten relief<\/a> from the Islamabad High Court, but the PTI leader had dashed back to the courtroom and sought blanket relief from the single-member bench in the cases registered against him.<\/p>\n<p>He had later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1758584\">joined<\/a> the IPP \u2014 a party formed by gathering PTI deserters on one platform \u2014 on its inception in June.<\/p>\n<p>In July, a Lahore anti-terrorism court granted the former information minister interim pre-arrest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1763667\">bail in two terror cases<\/a> relating to the May 9 riots.<\/p>\n<p>However, days later, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1764135\">issued<\/a> non-bailable arrest warrants for him and Imran in a case pertaining to contempt of the electoral body and the chief election commissioner.<\/p>\n<p>A month later, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1768942\">furnished bail bonds<\/a> worth Rs100,000 in each case before an ATC in the terror cases registered with Model Town police about an attack on the party office of the PML-N during the May 9 protests.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, who is currently a member of the Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party, was arrested on Saturday, according to his wife.
