Karachi police said on Thursday that a man had confessed to killing his minor son because the child did not recognise the suspect as his father after he was adopted.<\/p>\n

Saudabad Station House Office (SHO) Mohammed Ali Niazi told Dawn.com<\/em> that Amir Ahmed had allegedly killed his son on October 17 and disposed of his body at a roadside in Port Qasim Colony.<\/p>\n

He said that the body was later recovered and an autopsy was carried out at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre but the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.<\/p>\n

SHO Niazi said that on October 23 Amir had lodged a first information report (FIR) about his \u201cmissing son\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the FIR, the suspect said that he was a resident of Millat Town in Malir. He said, his wife and their three-year-old son went to Liaqat Market in Saudabad on Oct 22 to shop.<\/p>\n

He said that his wife went to the market and he also followed soon after while their son was left alone, sitting on a motorcycle. However, when they returned, they saw that the child was missing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe launched a search and but could not find him,\u201d he said. \u201cMy plea is that someone has kidnapped my son for unknown reasons,\u201d he said in the FIR that was registered under Section 364-A (kidnapping or abducting a person under the age of fourteen) of the Pakistan Penal Code.<\/p>\n

SHO Niazi said that when it emerged that the body recovered was of the missing minor, police detained Amir on Wednesday in order to interrogate him. During the interrogation, the suspect \u201cconfessed\u201d to having killed his son, the official said.<\/p>\n

The SHO said that the suspect had told police that a friend of his father-in-law had adopted his son, adding that the foster father belonged to a relatively rich family.<\/p>\n

Amir said he killed his minor son as the child was not recognising him as his father, the official said, adding that the suspect was also estranged from his wife.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
