The authorities in Punjab are working on initiating health screening in schools.<\/span><\/p>\n

Addressing the participants of a workshop on early childhood development, Caretaker Punjab Minister Dr Javed Akram said the rate of hereditary diseases in Pakistan was very high. <\/span><\/p>\n

He also stressed neonatal screening at the University of Child Health Sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the age of 10 to 12 years, it is too late to diagnose the disease. <\/span><\/p>\n

He said breastfeeding should increase in the country and mother\u2019s informed about health issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

The caretaker minister said the government was taking strict action against quacks. <\/span><\/p>\n

University of Child Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Professor Masood Sadiq said every district should have a children\u2019s hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n

Failure to treat children is no less than criminal negligence, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n
