In response to the recent reduction in petroleum product prices, Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman instructed the deputy commissioners on Monday to enforce the new rate lists promptly.<\/span><\/p>\n

During a virtual meeting, which took place at the Civil Secretariat, the implementation of food price reductions and revised transport fares were reviewed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The chief secretary emphasised the importance of making fare reduction lists accessible to passengers on buses.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also underscored the responsibility of price magistrates for ensuring that commodities are not sold at prices exceeding the fixed rates.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, Chief Secretary Zaman reminded the deputy commissioners that they are responsible for setting commodity prices within their respective districts, emphasising the need to adhere to these established rates.<\/span><\/p>\n

In alignment with the government’s commitment to alleviating the burden of inflation on the public, the chief secretary highlighted the vital role of administrative officers in enhancing governance and service delivery.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also issued directives regarding the continuation of operations against encroachments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The secretary of the industries department provided a comprehensive overview during the meeting, disclosing that 144 crucial markets have been identified in the province for the convenience of consumers.<\/span><\/p>\n

District administrations will deploy staff in these markets to facilitate this process. The Transport Secretary also addressed the assembly, noting that following the reduction in petroleum product prices, transport fares have been lowered by 5 to 10%.<\/span><\/p>\n

He stressed the imposition of significant fines on transporters found guilty of overcharging.<\/span><\/p>\n

In attendance at the meeting were the administrative secretaries of industries, agriculture, and transport, as well as Additional IG special branch, along with other relevant officers.<\/p>\n
