\u201cI think for them [Afghanistan players] it\u2019s a rivalry that excites them,\u201d said Trott on Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s a rivalry that sometimes in the past has been very passionate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had very close games as well. Hopefully, tomorrow isn\u2019t very exciting and we win by a lot. It\u2019s just the nature of the rivalry, I should say,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cBoth teams, I think, respect each other, but are very desperate to win.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trott said he wasn\u2019t aware that Pakistan had unsuccessfully demanded the International Cricket Council switch Sunday\u2019s game to another venue.<\/p>\n
Reports claimed that Pakistan were keen to dent the threat posed by Afghanistan\u2019s world-class spin attack.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t know about them wanting to (change the venue), but I think Pakistan have got good spinners themselves and the thing with spinners, there are only two or three of them playing a game,\u201d said Trott.<\/p>\n
Afghanistan\u2019s spin trio of Rashid Khan, Mujeebur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi will pose a threat to Pakistan as they did against England, sharing eight wickets in an upset 69-run win.<\/p>\n
That game, however, took place in New Delhi.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s everybody\u2019s job, not just the spinners, to win games. There\u2019s batsmen who\u2019ve got to put runs on the board or batsmen who\u2019ve got to chase down a total,\u201d added former England batsman Trott.<\/p>\n
\u201cChennai is normally a good wicket. So, with regards to the mindset, it\u2019s important, as I said, the mindset we have there is that it\u2019s a team game. It\u2019s not just a spinners game,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Afghanistan have lost all seven ODIs against Pakistan but can take a degree of satisfaction from knowing that they clinched three of the teams\u2019 last four Twenty20 meetings.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe always look to put the opposition under pressure straight away so we\u2019ll be looking to do that tomorrow obviously, and I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any thoughts with regards to previous matches,\u201d said Trott.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
