The couple made the announcement in a joint statement on their social media accounts. According to <em>TMZ<\/em>, Jonas initiated the divorce proceedings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The statement on their Instagram accounts read, &#8220;Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage, we have decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but, truly, this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The two connected over Instagram direct messages in 2016. In a Harper\u2019s Bazaar UK interview, Turner revealed that mutual friends had been trying to introduce them for some time. However, an out-of-the-blue direct message from Jonas kicked off their romantic journey.<\/p>\n<p>Their first in-person meeting occurred when Jonas invited Turner to join him while he toured in the UK. To ensure her safety, Turner brought along her &#8220;rugby boys,&#8221; expecting Jonas to arrive with security. Much to her surprise, Jonas came with a friend, dispelling any concerns about catfishing and sparking the beginning of their romance.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Jonas popped the question, and the couple shared their engagement with the world through matching Instagram posts. The couple&#8217;s 2019 wedding was equally eventful, with a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas followed by a lavish affair in the French countryside. Their love story seemed like something out of a fairytale.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jonas and Turner share two daughters.
