DUBAI\/LAHORE: Pakistan Mualim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif will return home today after four years of self-imposed exile, ARY News reported on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has arrived at the Dubai airport to depart for Pakistan.<\/p>\n

As per the PML-N\u2019s plan, Nawaz will first travel to Islamabad and from there he would travel to Lahore for the public gathering scheduled for today.<\/p>\n

Talking to media at Dubai airport, the PML-N leader said that his party is competent enough to take Pakistan out of the crisis that it is presently in.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are competent enough to solve the problems of the country,\u201d said Nawaz in the media talk before his departure at Dubai airport.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation in Pakistan is very chaotic,\u201d said Nawaz.<\/p>\n

To a question about the general elections, the PML-N supremo said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is in a \u201cbetter\u201d position to decide on polls.<\/p>\n

Nawaz Sharif\u2019s schedule<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Nawaz\u2019s flight will depart from Dubai Airport at 8:45am in a chartered plane and land in Islamabad at 12:30pm.<\/p>\n

He will stay at the airport for an hour during which he will hold legal consultations. He will then leave for Lahore where he will be accorded a warm welcome by the party workers.<\/p>\n

Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to address a public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan in the evening.<\/p>\n

Arrangements finalised<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has made arrangements for flower showers using Cessna planes to welcome former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the provincial capital of Lahore.<\/p>\n

PML-N has claimed that it has set up 40,000 seats at the Greater Iqbal Park the venue for today\u2019s public gathering.<\/p>\n

PML-N convoys from Sindh, KP, Gilgit Baltistan and Punjab have left for Lahore to attend today\u2019s rally.<\/p>\n

Here is a timeline of events leading to his latest years of exile and his return:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sharif, 73, first become prime minister in 1990. He was ousted in a 1999 coup, ending a second stint as prime minister, and went into self-imposed exile until 2007.<\/p>\n

April 2016:<\/strong> Millions of documents from a Panamanian law firm are leaked to the media. Some of the so-called Panama Papers show the involvement of Sharif\u2019s family in offshore companies that hold properties in London. Sharif, who became prime minister for a third time after winning a 2013 election, denies wrongdoing but a case against him is filed in Pakistan by his main rival, cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan.<\/p>\n

July 28, 2017:<\/strong> The Supreme Court disqualifies Sharif from the prime minister\u2019s office, declaring him dishonest for not disclosing income from a company owned by his son. Sharif resigns from office the same day. He soon leaves for London to tend to his wife who was receiving medical treatment there.<\/p>\n

April 13, 2018:<\/strong> The Supreme Court imposes a lifetime ban on Sharif from taking part in politics or holding any public office in a first-of-its-kind decision.<\/p>\n
