Singer Justin Timberlake opened up for the first time since his fellow pop star and ex-flame Britney Spears claimed in her forthcoming memoir, that she had an abortion while dating him in the late 1990s and the early 2000s.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the unversed, Justin Timberlake, 42, and Britney Spears, 41, met as young cast members on television\u2019s \u2018The Mickey Mouse Club\u2019<\/em> in the late 1990s and dated for about three years in their late teens and early 20s, becoming tabloid sensations, before splitting abruptly in 2002.<\/p>\n

In her upcoming autobiography, \u2018The Woman in Me\u2019<\/em>, Spears claimed that though the pregnancy \u2018was a surprise\u2019, she wanted to have the baby and agreed to an abortion at Timberlake\u2019s insistence.<\/p>\n

The pop star wrote, \u201cJustin definitely wasn\u2019t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren\u2019t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn\u2019t want to be a father,\u201d she noted in the excerpts of the book, due for release on October 24.<\/p>\n

Now, as per the latest developments reported by a foreign-based tabloid, sources confirm that Timberlake is \u2018trying to distance\u2019 himself from the memoir, to focus on his work and his wife and family. \u201cHe\u2019s happy at home with Jess [actor Jessica Biel] and their kids and he\u2019s focusing on new music. He\u2019s in such a great place,\u201d a source close to the President of Pop said.<\/p>\n

Another insider also shared, \u201cJustin will always be supportive of Britney and all of her endeavours, but he\u2019s trying to distance himself from her upcoming book. It\u2019s not something he\u2019s focusing too much on in terms of anything she might discuss when it comes to their former relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJustin and Britney dated so long ago, and he has a whole different life now. He\u2019s focused on his family, his career, and moving forward, and he would like to leave anything that happened in the past behind them,\u201d the person concluded.<\/p>\n
