A 16-year-old housemaid Sonia was allegedly raped and poisoned to death by her employers in Karachi\u2019s Gulshan-e-Iqbal, the mother claimed on Tuesday.According to details, the body of 16-year-old Sonia \u2013 a housemaid in bungalow in Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13-C \u2013 was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical examination.In a statement to police, the victim\u2019s mother claimed that Sonia went to work on Sunday morning as usual.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen she returned home, her condition seemed critical,\u201d she said, adding that they immediately shifted her to JPMC. However, the mother said, she died during the treatment.Meanwhile, the police said investigation was underway to determine the cause of housemaid\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

The victim\u2019s family has accused the employer\u2019s sons of raping Sonia and poisoning her to death, the police said.Incidents of inflicting torture on child servants seem to be on a rise.Recently, a 10-year-old housemaid Fatima was allegedly tortured to death by her employer, who is a peer (spiritual leader), in Ranipur Town near Sindh\u2019s Khairpurcity.Fatima had died in gruesome condition in the Haveli of Asad Shah and the video of her tragic death also went viral on social media.The postmortem report, confirmed that the minor maid was sexually abused, according to DIG SukkurJavedJiskani. After the incident, the police arrested the Asad Shah, the main accused of the Gaga, Fatama case.<\/p>\n
