Six terrorists were killed while eight were injured in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s North Waziristan district on Saturday, according to the military\u2019s media wing.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted based on the \u201creported presence of terrorists\u201d in the district\u2019s general area of Mir Ali.<\/p>\n

During the operation, an \u201cintense fire exchange\u201d took place between the military troops and the militants, \u201cas a result of which six terrorists were sent to hell while eight terrorists got injured\u201d, the ISPR said.<\/p>\n

The statement added that during the exchange, Sepoy Abdul Hakeem, 33, \u201cfought gallantly\u201d and embraced martyrdom.<\/p>\n

\u201cWeapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed terrorists who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and target killing of innocent civilians,\u201d the military said.<\/p>\n

It added that sanitisation of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cLocals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism,\u2019 the statement said.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, two militants were killed<\/a> in separate operations in KP while two suspected militants were killed in Balochistan\u2019s Kech district.<\/p>\n

A day before that, two soldiers had embraced martyrdom while five terrorists<\/a> had been killed during an IBO in Balochistan\u2019s Zhob district.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Uptick in terror activities<\/h2>\n

Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in terror activities in recent months, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire<\/a> with the government in November last year.<\/p>\n

In July, as many as 12 soldiers<\/a> of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom in separate military operations in the Zhob and Sui areas of Balochistan.<\/p>\n

That was the military\u2019s highest single-day death toll from terrorist attacks reported this year. Before this, 10 personnel were martyred in a \u2018fire raid\u2019 in Balochistan\u2019s Kech district in February 2022.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, data<\/a> compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) said the number of militant attacks in August was the highest tally for monthly strikes in almost nine years.<\/p>\n
