Robbers gained access to the Bahawalnagar District Hospital nursing hostel store at night and loaded a truck with stolen goods after opening the locks. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, the district health authority CEO and an administration officer arrived at the scene, forcing the robbers to abandon the loaded truck and a motorcycle. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to sources in the hospital, the value of the stolen beds, machinery and equipment was estimated at millions of rupees. <\/span><\/p>\n

The source said the authorities were investigating the possibility of similar incidents having taken place earlier and the stolen goods being hidden in a private warehouse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police Sub-Inspector, Kashif, told The Express Tribune that the loaded truck and its driver had been taken to the area police station and a first information report (FIR) registered. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, there has been no progress in the recovery of goods suspected to have been stolen earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sources said there was no sign of forced entry during the robbery.<\/span><\/p>\n

The hospital administration formed a committee to look into the incident, following which the inquiry officer, Dr Shaukat Ali, emphasised that no lenience would be shown to those found guilty. <\/span><\/p>\n

A local resident said the hospital was the second largest in the province but it lacked several essential facilities.<\/p>\n
