{"id":11891,"date":"2023-10-07T19:38:05","date_gmt":"2023-10-07T19:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/skardu-airport-to-be-upgraded-to-international-standards\/"},"modified":"2023-10-07T19:38:05","modified_gmt":"2023-10-07T19:38:05","slug":"skardu-airport-to-be-upgraded-to-international-standards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistaninewspaperlist.com\/news\/skardu-airport-to-be-upgraded-to-international-standards\/","title":{"rendered":"Skardu Airport to be upgraded to international standards"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_98\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p><strong>KARACHI: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to upgrade Skardu Airport to international standards in a bid to promote tourism, ARY News reported on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking exclusively to ARY News, CAA Director General Khaqan Murtaza said that the Pakistan CAA has planned an open sky policy for Skardu Airport to promote tourism.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, Khaqan Murtaza said that the authority has started preparations to upgrade Skardu Airport to international standards. \u201cWe want to make northern regions a center of tourism even in winter,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that Saudi aviation officials \u2013 who visited Pakistan recently \u2013 expressed pleasant surprise after seeing the \u2018beauty of the northern region\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Khaqan Murtaza further said that the Saudi authorities have shown interest in launching direct flights to Skardu.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the official said that refueling facility of planes has been provided at the airport, adding that steps were being taken to increase oil storage for aircraft in the northern regions.<\/p>\n<p>Skardu, nestled in the Karakoram mountain range, offers a breathtaking experience to adventurers, nature enthusiasts, and history buffs alike.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/arynews.tv\/skardu-gets-international-airport-status\/\">Skardu got the status of an international airport<\/a> after landing of the first international flight of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) in August 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The first international flight of PIA \u2013 flight 234 \u2013 from Dubai landed in Skardu.
