Artists under 30 years from Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jamshoro, Naushehro Feroze, Khairpur and Karachi participated in the workshop held at Mehran Arts Council, Hyderabad. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">Senior students from Institute of Art &amp; Design, University of Sindh, Jamshoro and Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and Heritage, Jamshoro also got an opportunity to be a part of the workshop. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Read <\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2429301\/dismal-education-standards\">Dismal education standards<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">This event, the first of its kind, was organised by KBT to help artists starting out in their careers to understand the vital link between art and effective communication for future success, learn practical skills from leading art experts, network, and engage in teamwork.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:black; text-align:justify\">During the workshop, participants focused on learning how to present their art practice via PechaKucha, a visual format of 20 slides in 20 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">PechaKucha is a system developed in Japan in keeping with the concise communication needed in today&#8217;s competitive time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">In the introductory session Almas Bana, Chairperson of KBT spoke on the mandate of Karachi Biennale, the largest international contemporary art platform in Pakistan and how it supports young artists. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">Nilofur Farrukh, eminent art critic, author and Managing Trustee of KBT discussed the importance of communication and tools to create a narrative connection between art practice and cultural context. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">Ambreen Saleh, Head of Marketing presented the story of the Karachi Biennale in a PechaKucha format.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">In the final session established art professionals and educators Romilla Kareem, Raheela Abro, Abdul Malik Channa and Saira Danish mentored emerging artists on how to adapt their images and information to the PechaKucha format.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">The final part of the workshop will take place in September when the participants will make PechaKucha presentations in Karachi to a jury and complete for the PechaKucha Prize. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:black\">Karachi Biennale Trust and Culture Department, Government of Sindh that share the objective to create opportunities for young artists of Sindh were collaborating partners for the PechaKucha Workshop and will extend their partnership to other art projects in future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"background-color:white\">Published in The Express Tribune, August 27<sup>th<\/sup>, 2023.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&#038;version=v5.0&#038;appId=419051588770002&#038;autoLogAppEvents=1\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The Karachi Biennale Trust (KBT) in collaboration with the Culture Department, Government of Sindh, held a full-day PechaKucha workshop on Saturday.
