Bollywood\u2019s celebrated filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj revealed that his latest film \u2018Khufiya\u2019<\/em> starring Tabu, was originally penned to be led by a male actor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a recent interview, ahead of the release of his latest OTT film \u2018Khufiya\u2019<\/em>, ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, known for cinematic gems like \u2018Haider\u2019, \u2018Omkara\u2019<\/em> and \u2018Maqbool\u2019<\/em>, revealed that his new spy thriller was supposed to be led by a male actor like most of his films.<\/p>\n

He added that the project was executed with Tabu when all the male actors declined his offer. \u201cOne day I thought\u00a0asi ki tesi sab male actors k<\/em>i (to hell with these male actors), my hero is Tabu. The obligation is now on me to prove that she made the right choice,\u201d Bhardwaj said.<\/p>\n

In the same interview, when Tabu was asked if she would do a role for the filmmaker she is not comfortable with, given their friendship, she replied, \u201cHe won\u2019t bring me such a role.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued to explain, \u201cAlso, by the virtue of working with him I will feel comfortable in any role. What I feel for him is beyond the realm of film casting. It\u2019s too potent what I have with him. Also, I feel, in terms of characters, I know exactly what he wants. It\u2019s not possible to have that kind of surety with somebody even in your personal life and I have that with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based on Amar Bhushan\u2019s espionage novel \u2018<\/em>Escape to Nowhere\u2019, <\/i>\u2018Khufiya\u2019<\/em>, written, directed and produced by Bhardwaj, stars Tabu with Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi.<\/p>\n

The film was released on the streaming giant Netflix on October 5.<\/p>\n
