Taylor Swift’s decisions for her 2027 Grammy submissions caused “a massive controversy” among her fandom for their unexpected selections in major categories.

The 36-year-old pop queen is said to have completed her entries to the Recording Academy having decided to divide her big hits between her chart-topper and a motion picture soundtrack project.

What are taylor swift’s 2027 grammy submissions

Swift’s submission strategy targets two distinct categories:

Record of the Year: Entered “The Fate of Ophelia

Song of the Year: Entered “I Knew It, I Knew You” (from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack)

It was enough to spark a frenzy on social media sites when the choice was made to submit her Toy Story 5 track for Song of the Year-a songwriting award-rather than her mega-hit “The Fate of Ophelia.

Followers flocked to X (or formerly Twitter) to express their confusion as to why “The Fate of Ophelia” – which has sat in the billboard Top 10 for close to a whole year – didn’t get considered for SOTY.

Fan Discussion Highlights:

“The Fate of Ophelia” raised the bar for Swift fans Writing an intentionally singular, minutely examined review of the pop star’s fifth album, “The Fate of Ophelia” gave people SW’s best shot at finally snagging the Song of the Year award.

Others noted that a “I Knew It, I Knew You” SOTY campaign keeps momentum strong for the track leading up to the Oscars, and “The Fate of Ophelia” is already a top-tier contender for ROTY.

“If ‘I Knew It’ gets a SOTY nod, it’s more likely to have a solid chance at Oscar, while ‘Ophelia’ is clearly a record contender, so Taylor could sweep both,” one fan pointed out in the analysis.

Looking Ahead to the 2027 Award Season

Although the reception from her fanbase was polarized, Swift’s cunning decision to release two different versions of the same song gave her two separate shots at scoring both a mainstream smash and major film soundtrack accolades.

Whether or not it pays off, fans will have to wait for the official nominations for the 2027 Grammy Awards to be unveiled in order to find out.
