Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq and former pacer Mohammad Amir have offered advice to pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi for their upcoming match against the Netherlands in the ICC World Cup 2023.<\/p>\n

While speaking on a local news channel, Razzaq emphasized the importance of patience, particularly when bowling with the old ball. He stressed the need for understanding the dynamics of the match and adjusting the bowling strategy accordingly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Cricket is played in accordance with the situation of a match. Sometimes you go for wickets and sometimes it is important to contain runs. You will be in trouble if you mix them,” said Razzaq.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Razzaq advised Shaheen to bring in variations while bowling with the older ball, highlighting that it’s crucial to be patient and wait for the batsman’s mistake, rather than constantly aiming for wickets.<\/p>\n

\u201cShaheen thinks that the old ball will offer the same assistance like the new ball, which is not the case. He needs to bring variations in his bowling with the old ball. He needs to bowl with patience because sometimes you won’t get wickets and you will have to wait for the batter’s mistake. If you are always looking for wickets, you will only be successful twice in a 100 attempts,” he further added.<\/p>\n

Razzaq also added that Pakistan, England, New Zealand and India will qualify for the semi-finals of the mega event.<\/p>\n

Amir also highlighted Shaheen’s critical role in the team, especially in picking up early wickets. He emphasized that Shaheen setting the tone with the ball is vital for Pakistan’s success, underscoring the importance of early breakthroughs.<\/p>\n

“Like Babar Azam, Shaheen’s role in the team is very important. If he doesn’t set the tone with the ball, Pakistan team will struggle. It is very important that he takes wickets in the initial few overs. If he doesn’t get wickets, it could be a problem,” said Amir.<\/p>\n

Pakistan is set to face the Netherlands in their first match of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Hyderabad.<\/p>\n
