US and China agreed to launch a Super Intelligence Dialogue during Xi-Trump summit, US says<\/p>\n

China said Monday that dialogue with the US is an \u201cimportant pathway\u201d for ensuring artificial intelligence benefits everyone, following an agreement to establish a formal framework for bilateral talks on the technology.<\/p>\n

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Beijing <\/a>was ready to maintain exchanges with Washington, responding to a question from an Anadolu correspondent at a news conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an important pathway for global AI for good and for all,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Guo said China also advocates giving the UN a central role in establishing \u201ca fairer and more equitable global AI governance system.\u201d<\/p>\n

Washington and Beijing agreed to establish the US-China Super Intelligence (SI) Dialogue<\/a> during Chinese President Xi Jinping\u2019s summit with US President Donald Trump at the White House last week, according to the US administration.<\/p>\n

The first talks are scheduled for November.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ready to maintain exchanges with the US through the artificial intelligence intergovernmental dialogue,\u201d Guo said.<\/p>\n

He described the engagement as part of building a \u201cconstructive China-US relationship of strategic stability\u201d based on \u201crespect, fairness and reciprocity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The framework aims to facilitate exchanges on AI\u2019s risks and benefits and establish a bilateral communication channel for AI-related incidents.<\/p>\n

According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, future discussions could also address protocols for responding to critical threats, including uncontrollable autonomous AI agents and the spread of cyber and biological weapons capabilities to non-state actors.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
