KARACHI \u2013 Two sanitation workers died while undergoing treatment after they fell unconscious while cleaning a sewer in Karachi\u2019s Bhimpura area on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The rescue officials said that the two workers suddenly lost consciousness while working inside the sewer on Wednesday afternoon. They were immediately rescued and shifted to Civil Hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

However, as their condition deteriorated, their families moved them to a private hospital, where both workers succumbed to their condition.<\/p>\n

The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Vaneesh and 30-year-old Umesh.<\/p>\n

Their bodies were later shifted from the private hospital to a mortuary located on Shahrah-e-Faisal.<\/p>\n

The incident indicated the risks faced by sanitation workers who often enter sewers without adequate safety measures and protective equipment.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Mohammad Ali Randhawa arranged a reception in honor of sanitary workers who served on Eid-ul-Azha on the instructions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.<\/p>\n

He announced to pay one month basic salary as bonus to CDA workers who performed best sanitation duty during Eid holidays in Islamabad.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the sanitary workers who made the Zero Waste City operation a success deserve to be congratulated and encouraged, said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in his message.<\/p>\n

He said that Islamabad got the honor of being the cleanest city due to the excellent communication and mutual cooperation of all the departments and the citizens including the employees and officers serving the city will be encouraged at all levels.<\/p>\n

Chairman CDA Mohammad Ali Randhawa, IG Islamabad Police, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and other officers attended the reception, a large number of sanitary workers served on Eid-ul-Azha also attended the reception.<\/p>\n

CDA sanitary workers are grateful to the Federal Home Minister for encouraging them by sitting with their officers for the first time, the workers expressed their joy.<\/p>\n
