Dist admin urges citizens to stay away from streams, drainage channels and low-lying areas till spillways remain open<\/p>\n

MONSOON SURGE: Spillway gates release water from Rawal Dam after the reservoir reaches a high level of 1,748.3 feet amid continuing rains <\/p>\n

The Islamabad district administration on Tuesday opened the Rawal Dam spillways after the water rose to over 1750 feet following heavy downpour lashing the federal capital and adjoining areas.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, the water level at Rawal Dam had risen to 1,751.90 feet, prompting authorities to open the dam\u2019s spillways at 2pm.<\/p>\n

The district administration also directed Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122, police, and other relevant departments to remain vigilant during the operation.<\/p>\n

The district administration said authorities decided to open the spillways to regulate the water inflow and maintain safe water levels.<\/p>\n

It also directed all concerned institutions to implement necessary safety measures before and during the operation.<\/p>\n

Officials said coordination among emergency and civic agencies was underway to monitor the situation and respond promptly to any developments resulting from increased water discharge.<\/p>\n
