A former employee at SK Hynix has been sentenced to 18 months in \u200bjail for leaking information on semiconductor \u200cmanufacturing technology to a Chinese firm, the Yonhap News Agency<\/em> reported on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Seoul High Court made the ruling \u200bin an appeal case against the defendant, \u200bupholding the lower court’s sentence for \u2060leaking classified information on so-called CMOS image sensors, \u200ba technology used for non-memory chips<\/a> in smartphone cameras \u200band laptops, to a Chinese<\/a> company in 2022, Yonhap<\/em> said.<\/p>\n

The court found that the employee, who formerly \u200bworked at SK Hynix’s office in \u200bChina, printed out or took photos of documents containing \u200ctrade secrets\u00a0<\/a>downloaded from the company’s internal server, a violation of its security rules, according to Yonhap<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The defendant disclosed some of the information \u200bin a \u200bresume submitted \u2060to a Chinese firm, Yonhap<\/em> said, without naming the Chinese company.<\/p>\n

The \u200bman admitted all of the charges \u200band \u2060most of the information he took was retrieved by the company, the report said.<\/p>\n
