Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari on Thursday held a meeting with US Consul General in Lahore, Stetson Sanders, to discuss matters of mutual interest, cultural cooperation, and the Punjab government\u2019s ongoing public welfare and development initiatives.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Consul General Stetson Sanders appreciated Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif\u2019s initiatives aimed at promoting public welfare, culture, and the arts. He also praised the provincial government\u2019s efforts to establish the Punjab Film City and revive the theatre industry.<\/p>\n

The two sides discussed prospects for developing a cultural partnership between American artists and the Alhamra Arts Council, as well as organizing joint cultural and artistic events in Lahore.<\/p>\n

Azma Bokhari briefed the U.S. Consul General on the flagship public welfare programmes launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. She said the Punjab government had introduced historic initiatives to improve the lives of women, students, and farmers across the province.<\/p>\n

The minister said construction of 170,000 houses was currently underway under the \u201cApni Chhat, Apna Ghar\u201d housing programme, enabling thousands of families to achieve their dream of home ownership.<\/p>\n

Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the Punjab Information and Culture Department and the U.S. Consulate in Lahore in the fields of culture, arts, and creative industries.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the meeting, Azma Bokhari presented a commemorative souvenir to U.S. Consul General Stetson Sanders.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by Punjab Information Secretary Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani and Political and Economic Advisor at the U.S. Consulate, Sadaf Saad.<\/p>\n
