Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday arrived in Washington, where he will meet with US Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Marco Rubio, the Foreign Office (FO) said.<\/p>\n
The development comes as Islamabad is attempting to negotiate a peace pact to end the US-Israeli war with Iran. Vice President JD Vance has said the two sides were \u201cclose\u201d to reaching a deal but \u201cnot there yet\u201d.<\/p>\n
Dar reached Washington after a three-day visit<\/a> to New York for meetings<\/a> linked to the United Nations. Upon his arrival, he was received by Pakistan\u2019s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, along with senior officials of the Pakistani embassy.<\/p>\n \n <\/a>\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/span><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n In an earlier statement, the FO said Dar and Rubio would \u201creview bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe discussions will also focus on strengthening cooperation in key priority sectors, as well as Pakistan\u2019s efforts to promote regional peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy,\u201d the FO elaborated.<\/p>\n It added that the visit \u201creflects Pakistan\u2019s commitment to further deepening its longstanding and broad-based partnership with the United States\u201d.<\/p>\n The deputy premier is expected to leave for Islamabad later in the day after wrapping up his engagements in Washington.<\/p>\n
