PPP digital media in-charge and former Sindh minister Sharjeel Memon on Wednesday said his party had good relations with all institutions, including the establishment, but it did not “look around” like other political parties.<\/p>\n
“At present, no one is being supported in the country and nobody should look towards any institution… let the people decide,” he added while addressing a news conference in Peshawar.<\/p>\n
He was accompanied by PPP former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa president Engineer Humayun Khan, Information Secretary Amjad Afridi and other party leaders of the province.<\/p>\n
“Our only demand is that the general elections should be held immediately so that the people can choose their representatives, who will pull the country out of its crises.”<\/p>\n
Memon maintained that the people had no choice but the PPP.<\/p>\n
“By following the vision of [PPP co-chairperson] Asif Ali Zardari, the PPP will bring the country out of is crises under the leadership of [party chairman] Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari,” he continued.<\/p>\n
He claimed that nobody had the solutions to the country’s woes except Bilawal.<\/p>\n
The PPP stalwart pointed out that the country was facing an economic crisis right now, but the people should not think negatively and bring forward a positive leadership.<\/p>\n
He maintained that the PTI was in power in K-P for 10 years and created problems for the country during its tenure.<\/p>\n
The PPP leader claimed that the Bhutto family had always ended the problems and despair in the country.<\/p>\n
He continued that the PPP’s politics was always based on consensus instead of hatred.<\/p>\n
“PPP has always worked for the people and we are still ready to serve them,” he added.<\/p>\n
The former provincial minister observed that the politics of hatred was promoted in the country.<\/p>\n
He claimed that after the Imran-led government came to end, the country was facing economic and foreign problems.<\/p>\n
Memon maintained that Bilawal had brought the country out of its isolation by working for 16 months [during his tenure as the foreign minister].<\/p>\n
“Bilawal proved that Pakistan is not at war with anyone but friendly with everyone,” he added.<\/p>\n

The PPP leader pointed out that Bilawal had called Indian premier Narendra Modi “the butcher of Kashmir” and a bounty was announced on his head.<\/p>\n
However, he added that Bilawal [during his tenure as the foreign minister] had courageously visited India despite these threats.<\/p>\n
Memon claimed that even today, Zardari could make all the politicians sit on the same table.<\/p>\n
He added that Zardari gave K-P its name and identity.<\/p>\n
The party’s digital media in-charge said the PPP had solved the foreign problems, which were its responsibility, while the PML-N was supposed to handle the economy.<\/p>\n
He claimed that the PPP never ran away from the field but always accepted its challenges.<\/p>\n
“It’s still not the PPP but other parties, which are running away from the elections.”<\/p>\n
Elaborating on his political career, Memon said he had contested the 2018 election while he was in jail.<\/p>\n
Hitting out at PTI chief Imran Khan, he said the deposed premier went to jail because of his actions, not politics.<\/p>\n
The PPP leader raised the question who had told Imran to allegedly take funding from India and Israel.<\/p>\n
He also asked why the PTI chief sold the Makkah edition rare watch which he had acquired from the Toshakhana (gift repository) at a cheap price and set fire to the country on May 9.<\/p>\n
“Even today, he [Imran] is engaged in propaganda on social media against the country’s institutions.”<\/p>\n
Memon said the irregularities in the case of the Peshawar bus rapid transit (BRT) system should be investigated.<\/p>\n
He added that case of the Peshawar BRT system was stopped by former chief justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial by issuing injunction orders thrice.<\/p>\n
