In an X post, Kalinowski said OpenAI rushed deploying AI models on Pentagon classified cloud networks<\/p>\n

Caitlin Kalinowski, who oversaw \u200bhardware at OpenAI, announced her resignation on Saturday, citing concerns \u200cabout the company’s agreement with the Department of Defense.<\/p>\n

In a social media post on X, Kalinowski wrote that OpenAI did not take enough \u200btime before agreeing to deploy its AI models on the \u200bPentagon’s classified cloud networks.<\/p>\n

Reuters<\/em> could not immediately reach Kalinowski for comment, but she wrote on X that while she has “deep respect” for OpenAI \u200bCEO Sam Altman and the team, the company announced \u200bthe Pentagon deal “without the guardrails defined,” she posted.<\/p>\n

“It’s a governance concern first and \u200cforemost,” \u2060Kalinowski wrote in a subsequent X post. “These are too important for deals or announcements to be rushed.”<\/p>\n

OpenAI said the day after the deal<\/a> was struck that it includes additional safeguards \u200bto protect its \u200buse cases. \u2060The company on Saturday reiterated that its “red lines” preclude use of its technology in domestic surveillance \u200bor autonomous weapons.<\/p>\n

“We recognize that people have \u200bstrong views \u2060about these issues and we will continue to engage in discussion with employees, government, civil society and communities around the world,\u201d \u2060the \u200bcompany said in a statement to \u200bReuters<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Kalinowski joined OpenAI in 2024 after leading augmented reality hardware development at Meta \u200bPlatforms.<\/p>\n
