US President Donald Trump has said he should personally be involved in selecting Iran\u2019s next leader after Ali Khamenei, warning that Tehran would be \u201cwasting its time\u201d if it attempts to appoint a successor without US involvement.<\/p>\n

In an interview with an American website, Trump said that discussions are underway in Iran regarding the country\u2019s next supreme leader.<\/p>\n

He claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ayatollah Khamenei, is being considered as a potential successor, but he would not accept such a decision.<\/p>\n

Trump described Mojtaba Khamenei as a weak personality and said the United States wants to see a leader in Iran who can bring harmony and peace to the country.<\/p>\n

He added that he must be part of the process of selecting Iran\u2019s next leadership, similar to what he claimed happened in Venezuela.<\/p>\n

He further warned that Washington would not accept any new Iranian leader who continues the policies of the current leadership.<\/p>\n
