Makkah: Tonight, Saturday, 28 February 2026, the Ramadan moon will create a breathtaking astronomical moment as it aligns directly above the Kaaba<\/span><\/span> in Makkah.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the Jeddah Astronomical Society<\/span><\/span>, the moon will cross the local meridian at 10:24:40 PM Saudi Standard Time, reaching roughly 90 degrees above the horizon positioned perfectly over the Masjid al-Haram<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Engineer Majed Abu Zahrah<\/span><\/span> explained that this rare alignment, known as \u201clunar culmination,\u201d happens when the moon\u2019s tilt matches the latitude of a specific location.<\/p>\n

The result from anywhere in the world, observing the moon\u2019s position can help Muslims accurately determine the direction of the Qibla.<\/p>\n

At the moment of culmination, the moon will be nearly full, 91% illuminated, and about 374,000 kilometers from Earth. Clear skies will allow it to be visible with the naked eye, while binoculars or telescopes will reveal even finer details.<\/p>\n
