ISLAMABAD: The federal government approved Pakistan\u2019s participation in the scheduled ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup match against India on February 15, 2026, citing the spirit of cricket and the promotion of the game.<\/p>\n

According to an official statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was formally briefed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on the outcome of high-level consultations held among representatives of the PCB, the International Cricket Council (ICC), and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).<\/p>\n

The statement said the government reviewed formal requests sent to the PCB by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, as well as messages received from Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, and other member countries, urging Pakistan to play a constructive role in resolving the prevailing challenges surrounding the fixture.<\/p>\n

The government also took note of a statement by BCB President Aminul Islam, adding that Pakistan warmly appreciates the goodwill expressed by brotherly Bangladesh and reiterates its commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with it.<\/p>\n

The statement further revealed that the prime minister held a telephone conversation with the Sri Lankan president earlier in the evening.<\/p>\n

During the cordial and friendly exchange, both leaders recalled that Pakistan and Sri Lanka have always stood by each other, particularly during difficult times. The Sri Lankan president requested serious consideration to resolve the matter in an amicable manner.<\/p>\n

Taking into account the appeals of friendly countries, the government directed that the Pakistan national cricket team will take part in its scheduled match on February 15, 2026, in the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup.<\/p>\n
