KARACHI: City Mayor Murtaza Wahab has decided to register case against cutting of trees while taking notice of the illegal tree cutting in the metropolis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The mayor has directed the KMC horticulture department to register cases against the culprits involved in tree cutting in the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cTree cutting is a crime and no one will be allowed to remove the environment-friendly trees,\u201d Murtaza Wahab said.<\/p>\n

Those involved in tree cutting on KMC\u2019s roads will be tackled sternly, he said.<\/p>\n

Wahab said that his city administration is increasingly promoting tree plantation in Karachi. \u201cUrban forests are also being cultivated in parks under the KMC\u2019s mandate,\u201d Mayor added.<\/p>\n

After recent news reports about tree cutting in the metropolis, a KMC spokesman denied cutting of trees by the city authority.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe KMC has reported to the police about tree cutting,\u201d spokesman said. \u201cTrees have been slashed without permission of the KMC\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Those cutting trees in Gulshan Iqbal were not the KMC personnel, \u201cthe letter that surfaced belongs to the Gulshan Town\u201d, KMC clarified.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
