The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has denied to recongise Barrister Gohar as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The country\u2019s supreme election body issued a response to an application filed by Pakistan Tehereek-e-Insaf\u2019s Barrister Gohar\u2002Khan that he could not be recognised as the party\u2019s chairman at present.<\/p>\n

In the letter, the ECP wrote that Barrister Gohar has \u201cno legal status as party chairman\u201d since PTI\u2019s intra-party elections are subjudice before Lahore High Court.<\/p>\n

The ECP also said a decision\u2002cannot be rendered owing to the stay order placed on the intra-party polls and joined that senators joining PTI are also contingent upon that very case.<\/p>\n

Gohar confirmed that he had received the ECP\u2019s response and has decided to file a case with regard to this matter\u2002in the court. \u201cThe Election Commission of Pakistan has not accepted our intra-party election nor\u2002handed over a certificate,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

When our Senate elections were held, people not affiliated with\u2002any party joined PTI,\u201d he said while talking about the scenario after the Senate elections.<\/p>\n

On January 13, 2024, a three-member SC bench upheld the ECP\u2019s December 22, 2023, order declaring the PTI\u2019s intra-party polls null and void.<\/p>\n
