The headquarters of the Federal Constabulary (FC) in Peshawar has come under attack, senior police officials confirmed to Dawn<\/em> on Monday.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Dawn<\/em>, Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad, said: \u201cThe FC headquarters is under attack. We are responding and the area is being cordoned off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Security sources said that a suicide bomber had blown himself up at the FC headquarters gate. They said that firing was also heard after the blast. They added that two militants had been killed and security forces had cordoned off the area.<\/p>\n

The civilian paramilitary force, originally called Fron\u00adtier Constabulary, was renamed<\/a> by the government in July. The headquarters of the force is located in a crowded area, close to a military cantonment.<\/p>\n

Pakistan has witnessed a surge<\/u><\/a> in terror activities, particularly in KP and Balochistan. The spike in terror incidents followed the TTP ending a ceasefire<\/u><\/a> with the government in November 2022 and vowing to attack security forces, police, and personnel of law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n

In September, six soldiers were martyred and five terrorists were killed as security forces thwarted <\/a>an attack on the FC Headquarters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Bannu district.<\/p>\n

According to the military, the attack was carried out by Indian proxy Fitna-al-Khwarij. Fitna-al-Khawarij<\/u><\/a><\/em> is a term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).<\/p>\n
