Turkey says rescue ops underway after C-130 with 20 aboard crashes near Georgia-Azerbaijan border.<\/p>\n

A Turkish C-130 military cargo plane crashed on the Georgia-Azerbaijan border while flying back to Turkey from Azerbaijan, officials confirmed Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Turkey\u2019s Defence Ministry announced on social media platform X that search and rescue operations were underway in coordination with Georgian authorities. The aircraft, carrying 20 people including crew members, went down near Georgia\u2019s Lagodekhi region, about five kilometres from the Azerbaijani border.<\/p>\n

President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan expressed deep sorrow over the incident, saying, \u201cWe are deeply saddened to learn that one of our C-130 aircraft has crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. May God have mercy on our martyrs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Georgia\u2019s Interior Ministry also confirmed the crash, while Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said he had spoken with his Georgian counterpart, Gela Geladze, who was heading to the scene.
