FAISLABAD:

District & Sessions Judge Javaid-ul-Hassan Chishti has sentenced a woman and her paramour to life imprisonment following their conviction on two counts of murder arising from a double homicide reported at the Millat Town police station, Faisalabad.

According to the prosecution, Mst. Madiha Saqib, of Chak No.169-RB Ghona, along with her lover, Ehtisham Shafiq, from the same locality, shot dead her husband, Muhammad Saqib, and his brother, Muhammad Kashif, on February 15, 2020.

The court was told the motive behind the murders was Madiha’s desire to marry her lover.

Initially, Madiha Saqib lodged a complaint with the police against unidentified culprits. However, Atif Ghafoor, the brother of the deceased, filed a petition claiming that Madiha and Ehtisham were the actual perpetrators of the crime.

Following this, the police arrested both suspects and submitted the challan to the court.

After examining the evidence and hearing witness testimonies, District & Sessions Judge Faisalabad Javaid-ul-Hassan Chishti sentenced both accused to life imprisonment on two counts.

The convicts were ordered to pay Rs.500,000 each in compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased. Failure to pay the compensation would result in an additional six months of imprisonment for each convict.
