Esha Deol is preparing for the release of her upcoming film “Tumko Meri Kasam”, directed by Vikram Bhatt, which is set to hit theaters on March 21. She is making her return to the silver screen after 14 years. Recently, she revealed that at age 11, her father, Dharmendra, taught her swimming the hard way by throwing her into a tubewell.
During a chat, Esha Deol recalled a memorable childhood moment when she learned to swim. At 11, she still hadn’t mastered the skill, so a day at their farmhouse turned into an unexpected lesson. Noticing this, her father, Dharmendra, took matters into his own hands—quite literally—by picking her up and tossing her straight into a tubewell.
The actress recalled, “He said, ‘Abhi tak swimming nahi seekha hai tune?’ (You still haven’t learned swimming?). So I said, ‘Nahi papa (no, dad).’ He picked me up and threw me into the tubewell.”
At first, she panicked and struggled, but soon she realized she was floating. In that moment, she swam for the first time. What started as a sudden shock became a triumphant achievement, proving that unconventional lessons often leave the strongest impact!
Esha reminisced about the fun-filled swimming sessions star kids enjoyed in the 1980s. She recalled how a hotel pool in Mumbai’s Juhu neighborhood was often filled with familiar faces like Luv Sinha, Kush Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, and sisters Sonam and Rhea Kapoor. Growing up in the same era, they shared similar routines and activities, making those moments even more special.
After they splashed around in the crowded pool, they enjoyed post-swim treats like cold coffee milkshakes and crispy French fries.
Esha Deol is set to return to the big screen after 14 years with “Tumko Meri Kasam”, directed by Vikram Bhatt. Loosely based on the life of Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF, the upcoming drama features a stellar cast, including Adah Sharma, Anupam Kher, and Ishwak Singh. Marking her long-awaited comeback since “Tell Me O Kkhuda” in 2011, Esha’s latest project will hit theaters this Friday, March 21, 2025.
