ISLAMABAD – Widespread monsoon rains are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday with occasional gaps.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will likely penetrate upper parts of Pakistan tonight. They will affect central and southern parts of the country from August 02. A westerly wave will likely affect upper parts of the country from tonight.
Under these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are predicted in the twin cities, Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and central/south Balochistan on Wednesday night.
On Thursday and Friday, more intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are predicted in the twin cities, Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan. Rains and gusty winds are also likely in south Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northeast Balochistan.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Thursday and 32-34°C on Friday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 32-34°C on Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in central/south Balochistan, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Maximum temperature in Sibbi, Jacobabad, Bhakkar, Kot Addu and Bannu was recorded at 43°C.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 89 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 72 per cent.
