Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that the accused, Raja Zain, involved in the assault on a stage actress during a live performance at Gulistan Theatre in Sheikhupura, has been arrested. Sharing the photograph of the accused, she stated that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway and that strict legal action will be taken against him in accordance with the law. Azma Bokhari said that although the accused had obtained pre-arrest bail, legal proceedings are being pursued to seek the cancellation of his bail so that he can be brought to justice under the law.
The Information Minister emphasized that it is the responsibility of theatre owners to ensure a safe and secure environment for performers, particularly female artists. She said such unfortunate incidents are completely unacceptable and reaffirmed that the Punjab Government will not compromise on the dignity, safety, and protection of women under any circumstances.
Azma Bokhari further stated that no one will be allowed to harass, abuse, or humiliate women, adding that those who take the law into their own hands will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
