KARACHI: Bushra Ansari shared, “My first marriage was held with utmost simplicity, without jewellery or any grand function the total cost was just Rs 1,000.”
Speaking on the trend of extravagant weddings, Ansari recalled that her first marriage to producer Iqbal Ansari in 1978 was done with no jewelry and no elaborate ceremony.
She explained that at the time, her husband was a government employee earning a monthly salary of just 1,200 rupees. He had wished to sell his car to buy her jewelry and take out a loan for a wedding reception, but her father had wisely refused both requests.
The actress shared that her parents gave her a dowry, but the wedding itself was performed with a single suit and one purse, costing only a thousand rupees.
The decision, she said, was a blessing, as they began their married life without the burden of debt. She emphasized this point for today’s youth, saying, “I would tell the younger generation that marriage should be done with simplicity.”
Bushra Ansari was married to Iqbal Ansari for 36 years, and together they have two daughters, Nariman Ansari and Meera Ansari. The couple parted ways after their long marriage, and she confirmed her second marriage in May 2023.
