SEHWAN -Three women were abducted after armed suspects stormed a house in a village near Sehwan, following a dispute over a love marriage, the police said on Saturday.
According to SSP Zafar Siddiqui, the incident occurred in village Jan Muhammad Bhatti, where the suspects forcibly entered a house and kidnapped three women.
The SSP said a case has been registered against 20 suspects under the Anti-Terrorism Act, adding that two individuals involved in the incident have been arrested so far.
Police officials said the dispute stemmed from a recent love marriage between a young man and a woman belonging to a rival community.
The tensions between the two communities escalated after the marriage, prompting the attackers to abduct the women.
SSP Siddiqui said raids are underway to recover the abducted women. During the operation, two people were injured in an exchange of gunfire.
Police said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects and ensure the safe recovery of the victims.
