LAHORE – All theater halls across Punjab including provincial capital Lahore will remain closed from 1st to 13th of Muharram in respect of holy and solemn month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
Punjab Council of Arts made announcement through formal notification which said akk theatrical performances will be suspended, and all literary and cultural events are also prohibited during this period as a mark of solemnity and respect.
Muharram is a deeply significant month in the Islamic calendar, observed with great reverence by Muslims around the world. It marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and his companions in the Battle of Karbala. During this time, Muslims mourn their sacrifice and reflect on the values of truth, justice, and resistance against oppression.
Authorities have instructed all relevant departments and cultural institutions to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
