Health Desk:
QUETTA: A special Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward has been established at the Bolan Medical Complex Hospital (BMCH) to ensure timely treatment for potential monkeypox patients. This newly dedicated ward, comprising 15 beds, has been set up under the directives of Balochistan Health Minister Sardarzada Faisal Jamali.
The establishment of this special ward comes in response to the growing concern over the spread of monkeypox, which has seen sporadic cases across Pakistan. The move aims to provide immediate and effective care for any confirmed cases in the region, aligning with national efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
Pakistan has reported several cases of monkeypox in recent months, heightening the need for prepared facilities to manage any potential outbreak. The Balochistan Health Department, under the leadership of Minister Jamali, has taken proactive measures to ensure the province is equipped to handle any emerging health crisis.
Minister Jamali emphasized the importance of preparedness, stating, “Our priority is to protect the health and well-being of our citizens. The establishment of this special ward at BMCH is a critical step in our efforts to prevent and control the spread of monkeypox in Balochistan.”
The BMCH administration is also ensuring that the newly established ward is staffed with trained healthcare professionals and is equipped with the necessary medical supplies to handle any cases of monkeypox effectively.
This development is part of broader efforts by the Balochistan government to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the province, particularly in response to potential health emergencies. The Health Department continues to monitor the situation closely and remains committed to taking all necessary steps to protect public health.
