Speaker Siraj Durrani administers oath to newly elected SA members
Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani administered the oaths of 148 newly elected members of the Sindh Assembly (SA) in Sindhi, Urdu, and English.
A session was held to take the oaths of the newly elected members of the Sindh Assembly, the meeting was presided over by Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, the meeting was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, Agha Siraj Durrani took the oath himself first.
Interestingly, a record 60 members became members of the Sindh Assembly for the first time while former Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah took oath as a member of the 8th Sindh Assembly.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is the largest party in the house with 114 seats, while MQM-Pakistan has 36 seats, and JI has one seat. Nine members of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) are also part of the assembly.
Earlier, Punjab Assembly Speaker Muhammad Sibtain Khan administered oath to the newly-elected members of the Punjab Assembly (PA) during the 42nd session at the assembly chambers here on Friday, the speaker chaired the session and felicitated the 315 members provincial assembly (MPAs)
The session of the Punjab Assembly was convened at 10 a.m. today, which started with a delay of 2 hours.
