SKARDU: Pakistani-American singer Quratulain Balouch, popularly known as QB, was injured in a rare bear attack while camping in the scenic Deosai National Park, officials confirmed
According to park authorities and local sources, the incident occurred during her ongoing tour of the Gilgit-Baltistan region, where she was exploring the natural beauty of Skardu and its surroundings. The bear reportedly entered the campsite unexpectedly, resulting in injuries to both of QB’s arms.
She was immediately transported to the Regional Hospital in Skardu, where doctors confirmed that although her injuries are significant, she is in stable condition and out of danger. Medical staff stated that she is receiving appropriate treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
Quratulain Balouch rose to fame with her soul-stirring rendition of “Woh Humsafar Tha,” the title track of the hit drama serial Humsafar. Over the years, she has earned acclaim for her powerful vocals in songs such as “Ankhian Nu Ren De,” a tribute to Reshma, and “Panchi,” performed alongside Jal in Coke Studio.
The Deosai National Park, known as the ‘Land of Giants’, is a high-altitude plateau located between Skardu and Astore. Spread over 3,000 square kilometers, the park is famed for its surreal landscape, diverse wildlife, and wildflower-filled meadows. Bear sightings are rare but not unheard of in the region, which is home to the endangered Himalayan brown bear.
