KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday granted bail to actor Nadia Hussain’s husband, Atif Khan, in a high-profile bank fraud case involving a private company.
The court heard Atif Khan’s petition related to the alleged embezzlement of Rs 53 crore from the bank. The former bank CEO was directed to submit a surety bond of Rs 10 lakh, following which his bail was approved.
During the proceedings, the Sindh High Court also confirmed the interim bail of other accused involved in the case.
Atif Muhammad Khan had previously been arrested on charges of misappropriating millions of rupees from the private bank, drawing widespread media attention.
Earlier, Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle submitted the final challan in a Rs530 million fraud case involving a private company, with actress Nadia Hussain cleared of any charges.
During the hearing at the District and Sessions Court South, Karachi, the FIA presented its final report, confirming that Nadia Hussain’s husband, Atif Mohammad Khan, along with five others, will face trial on charges of forgery, breach of trust, and fraud.
According to the FIA’s findings, the accused were found involved in large-scale financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds.
The agency had earlier arrested Atif Mohammad Khan in March this year on charges of embezzling millions of rupees while serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a private bank.
Investigators revealed that Atif Khan was appointed CEO on July 1, 2015, and during his tenure, he allegedly established a personal company in violation of the bank’s policy. A formal complaint regarding the alleged financial misconduct was lodged last year by the bank’s group head, prompting the FIA investigation.
The court accepted the challan and is expected to fix the date for the commencement of the trial soon.
