Following Pakistan’s commendable win over Ireland in the second T20I match on Sunday, former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi expressed his reactions.
Afridi took to social media to applaud the team’s performance.
He specifically praised the significant contributions of Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman, whose match-winning performances played a crucial role in Pakistan’s victory.
In his social media post, Afridi also extended his congratulations to his son-in-law Shaheen Afridi for achieving a significant milestone in his cricketing career.
“We needed this win. Well done team, sp the way Rizwan and Fakhar played. We need the same mindset in the World Cup and similar strike rates for most batsmen. Congrats to Shaheen on 300 intl wickets, well done,” Afridi shared in his post.
In the second T20I match against Ireland, Pakistan was set a challenging target as Ireland scored 193 runs after losing seven wickets in the first innings.
Despite initial setbacks with the dismissals of key players like Babar Azam and Saim Ayub during the powerplay, Pakistan bounced back with exceptional batting performances.
Both Rizwan and Fakhar scored half-centuries, and they were supported by a valuable cameo from Azam Khan. This ultimately led Pakistan to victory within the 17th over and leveled the three-match T20I series 1-1.
