Sana Mir honored to ring bell at Lord’s ahead of WTC final

London:- Former Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Sana Mir, who was recently inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, has earned another prestigious honor.

Mir was invited to ring the ceremonial bell at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground to mark the start of play on one of the days of the ICC World Test Championship Final, currently being contested between Australia and South Africa.

As per tradition at Lord’s, the ringing of the five-minute bell is a symbolic gesture used to signal the start of a day’s play in Test matches.

Sana Mir’s selection for the honor highlights her global recognition and contribution to women’s cricket and comes shortly after her historic ICC Hall of Fame induction.

On June 12, it was Sana Mir who had the distinct privilege of ringing the bell to commence the second day’s play of the ongoing World Test Championship final at Lord’s.

It is noteworthy that Sana Mir was recently inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, making her the first Pakistani woman cricketer to receive this prestigious recognition.

Mir began her One Day International (ODI) career in December 2005 against Sri Lanka in Karachi. She played her last ODI match in November 2019 against Bangladesh in Lahore.

Throughout her illustrious career Sana Mir participated in 226 international matches. She captained the Pakistan women’s cricket team in 137 international matches from 2009 to 2017, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.
