- PSG offers staggering £70m salary to keep Kylian Mbappe.
- Despite offer, Mbappe reportedly close to joining Real Madrid.
- Mbappe remains key player for PSG despite transfer rumors.
According to a report by La Parisien on Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is planning a substantial offer to persuade their key forward, Kylian Mbappe, to extend his stay by two more years.
Real Madrid has been interested in acquiring Mbappe for some time, but the transfer to Santiago Bernabeu has not yet happened.
Recent news from various sources indicates that Mbappe is close to ending the transfer drama by choosing to move to Los Blancos as a free agent when his current contract ends this season.
Even though Mbappe appears to be on the verge of transferring to the Spanish capital, PSG is still optimistic about keeping the French player.
As per La Parisien’s report, the Ligue 1 title holders are ready to make Mbappe the top-earning player in Europe.
PSG is reportedly prepared to propose a two-year contract to the striker, which would net him nearly £70m after taxes each season.
In addition to their eagerness to retain their star player, PSG is also prepared to offer guaranteed bonuses and promotional contracts from Qatar.
Previous rumors indicated that Mbappe had told Real Madrid that he wanted an annual salary of €50m (£43m) to join Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
It was anticipated that Mbappe would declare his intention to leave PSG before the first leg of the Champions League last-16 match against Real Sociedad on March 5.
However, Real Madrid is reportedly worried about the delay, as the uncertainty about the player’s future continues.
Despite the ongoing rumors, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was cautious when questioned about Mbappe’s future before Saturday’s game with Lille.
“We will inform you when we have both reached a decision,” Al-Khelaifi stated to the press at the UEFA Congress in Paris.
While Al-Khelaifi kept his cards close to his chest, La Liga president Javier Tebas recently hinted that there’s over a 50% likelihood of Mbappe transferring to Real Madrid this summer.
Regardless of the speculation about his future, Mbappe remains a crucial player for PSG on the field, having scored 30 goals and provided seven assists in 29 competitive matches.
